The Essentials Every Man Should Carry in His Pockets

Every man has to carry a certain assortment of items. It is somewhat of a code or unwritten rule. The overall goal is to be prepared for whatever situation may arise. In this article we’ll review essential everyday carry items to keep on your person at any given time.
Phone
First up is the cellular phone. These days it is difficult to leave behind and still have a normal-functioning day. It is simply your link to the rest of the world around you. If it is a smart phone, which many people have these days, it serves multiple purposes with GPS capabilities, internet, camera functions, and endless amounts of useful applications.
Keys
These should be a no-brainer. As a man, you should be responsible for your living space and transportation, if applicable. Without keys to either of these on you at all times, there could be a reasonable cause for panic. The only exception, obviously, is if you are heading out and you completely trust leaving your doors unlocked or have a great hiding spot for keys.
Credit Card
Sure enough, a credit or debit card should be something kept handy at all times. Unless you are stacked with cash, you will run into problems when it comes to accessing cash and/or purchasing goods.
ID/Insurance Card
It is not only your legal responsibility as a motorist, but valid identification can be required for some purchases as well. Additionally, it can help prove your innocence if you were to be questioned by police. Health insurance cards are good to have should you be involved in some type of accident or face a serious injury or unexpected illness.
Knife
This can be considered a multi-tool for whatever may come your way. It is a simple fact that some things require cutting. Other than that, it is beneficial to have it for self-defense. It gives you a one-up as opposed to the guy who is defenseless. A potential thief just may be thwarted by the presence of a pocket knife.
Watch
A watch is a debatable item, depending on the wearer, but they still do serve a purpose in today’s society. Watches can accent an outfit or make a fashion statement. They can be a status symbol or simply offer some insight into your individual characteristics. Watches can also be useful timers along with providing instantaneous world time – if anyone in passing should need to know. Sometimes, women will use it as a conversation starter.
Handkerchief
A handkerchief can come in handy at the most unexpected times. Mostly, it serves to keep your appearance tidy and keep things clean. Otherwise, it can double as a headband, sweatband, or tourniquet – among other uses.
Business Cards
Your business card is an extension of who you are. It doesn’t always have to represent your employer or occupation, but it is a quick and easy way to share your contact information. It is not always appropriate to pull out your phone and enter someone’s information on the spot.
Lighter
A lighter is useful for survival, should you be stranded. More practically, you will prove useful to smokers who may need assistance in feeding their habit. This, again, is a great icebreaker for women.
Pen
In today’s digital world there is still a place for analog writing tools. A pen is convenient to have for communication, signatures, or just to lend out.
Flashlight
A flashlight may not always fit in your pocket, but it is understandable why it may be needed when you’re on the go. If you have a smart phone you also have a flashlight in the form of the camera flash. That’s great in emergency situations, but we all know it’s not as good as a dedicated flashlight.
Mints
Fresh breath is always important when on the go. It is most often a big part of your first impression. Women certainly don’t appreciate stale breath.
Condom
And finally, a condom, for the moments you’d least expect but yearn for the most!
